I met with the drywall guy yesterday and got the texture sorted out. We’re going for smooth wall. As it turns out, at this point, its easier to make it all smooth than to do a lighter texture. So yesterday and today they are sanding down the walls so we’ll be ready for paint on Monday. Read the rest of this entry »

The siding on our first wall was completed today, but the big news is the drywall being completed. Everything was textured this morning and looks great not offensive. We had hoped to go with smooth walls, but ended up with textured after getting a few bids on the job and realizing that that smooth was several thousand dollars more than we can afford. Tomorrow we’ll be be at the Buckman Neighborhood Association general meeting talking about our house. Insulation went in yesterday. Despite the SIPs, our house in conventionally framed in the basement so we needed to insulate. Instead of standard fiberglass insulation, we’re using recycled cotton batt. Our walls lived a former life as blue jeans. Read the rest of this entry »
