Our siding keeps going up, but the big excitement is that yesterday the steel frame for our screening around our lower roof garden was delivered to our site, and this morning our HRV finally showed up.
HRV
Its large. Large enough that we are having to move it into the basement. Originally, we were planning on tucking it into a soffit in the bathroom… But with its two feet of height, plus room for ducting to shoot out the top, plus drainage out the bottom, it was looking a little imposing above the toilet. So its now going in the basement above the dryer. Vents to the outside are going out the north wall, and we’ll be taking air out of the house through an exposed duct in the bathroom.

Above is a picture of the heat recover unit itself. Its a series of aluminum fins that allow fresh air and stale air to pass by each other so that the stale air going out pre-warms fresh air coming in.
Steel

Yesterday the steel was dropped off for our screen around the roof garden. Right now its just sitting in a pile next to the house, and it’ll probably stay there for another week before we can get it inspected at which point it’ll be hoisted up into place.

oooh, that’s what that is! i’ve walked past the house twice in the past week and was wondering what that pile of steel was for!
