New Sink

Our new kitchen sink went in today. When our countertops showed up the other day, they came with a sink that was smaller than we specified… There was a revision made in the process where we changed the kitchen around, but they built us that original sink instead of what we had asked them to build. So anyways, they came in today, cut the too small one out and welded in the sink we asked for. And it looks great.

Our Entry

Our entry trellis started to go in today. Its really almost done… Its lacking siding, lateral bracing, an ecoroof, and a grape vine.

While that was being built I hauled more rocks, and with a little help from our neighbor Jim finished up the gabions along the Ash street sidewalk. We got a new load of rocks and there’s a bunch more to do, but I probably won’t get to it until later in the week or maybe the weekend.

  1. Your cabinets and counters look beautiful. What kind of veneer is on the cabinets? I remember reading about you leaving all of your edges exposed to show the layers of plywood on the pieces. I like that look as well, I just finished building a vanity cabinet out of baltic birch and I left all the layers of the plywood exposed and it looks fantastic.

  2. We used sapele for our cabinets… Which we totally fell in love with right away, but it took some real effort on our cabinet maker’s part to find a good FSC supply. We’re pretty thrilled with how they turned out.
