Updates: Shear Wall
Yesterday everyone tackled a handful of little things that needed to get done while we wait for other things that are taking some time. There is an internal shear wall that somehow never got structural sheathing on it. Because our stairwell interrupts structure on the whole east side of the house, we need this to pick up that side of our floors and keep them from wobbling. Read the rest of this entry »
Digging Day 2
Today was the second and final day of digging and we have an awfully nice hole. Tomorrow bright and early the foundation guys are going to be out setting up forms with plans to pour concrete on Friday. Read the rest of this entry »
Survey
Yesterday our surveyor made it out to locate the house on our lot. It was a slow week in general, which was probably good that a lull in the schedule coincided with a week of excessive heat. But on Friday our surveyor staked out the corners of the house so that on Monday when the excavator comes in, he’ll know where to dig, and when the foundation guys come on Wednesday, they’ll be set as well. Preparing for the Foundation
Sewer work finished up on Friday, the last of the equipment was removed this morning. We have a schedule for progressing, on Monday the 3rd, our excavator is scheduled to come and dig out a hole for our basement, then the foundation guys will come in on Wednesday. Before then, we are getting a surveyor to come out to locate the foundation… Aside from that, there’s not a whole lot happening this week.
